Site lets consumers buy any product featured in print magazines

Retail

France-based Selectionnist enables magazine readers to shop any product found inside a number of major titles.

Over recent years, we’ve seen a number of mobile apps that help users identify fashions from a number of different sources so they can buy them, such as ASAP54, Keep and Snap Fashion. Now a new France-based site called is doing the same for print media, enabling magazine readers to shop any product found inside a number of major titles.

The site works with publications such as Cosmopolitan, Elle, Grazia, Marie-Claire and Vogue to source all of the clothes, fashion products and design objects that appear in its magazines. Each item is catalogued on Selectionnist along with a magazine tag that enables users to quickly search within particular titles. When they’ve pinpointed the product they found in a print magazine, users can read more about it, or click through to another site to purchase it.

Selectionnist acts as a repository for all of the items that appear in popular print media, in much the same way as ASOS started out documenting fashions seen on film and TV. Are there other fields of retail that could use this model to enable online consumers to quickly find the products they see in the real world?
